Fish ID & Database Rules
The ECLI Application creates a database of photographs and data relating to individual fish in order to enable their repeated identification over time. The system may analyze the visual characteristics of a fish and compare them with existing records.
Each identified fish may have a separate historical profile created. The profile may contain:

The system may use machine learning algorithms, computer vision, or other automated technologies. The system result is a technological estimate and may not always be correct. The Operator may continuously verify, adjust, and improve the results.

The database, its structure, organization, method of linking records, and technical solution are the property of the Operator or its authorized providers to the extent protected by applicable law. The user has no right to copy, extract, redistribute, or use the database to create a competing product.
Historical data may remain significant even many years after their creation. A new photograph may enable:
Therefore, the Operator may retain the data on a long-term basis in accordance with the GDPR and other applicable laws.
If fish data are linked to the identity of a user, the Operator processes them in accordance with its Privacy Policy. If the identity of the user is no longer necessary, the Operator may use pseudonymization or anonymization.
The Operator does not provide an absolute guarantee of the correctness of the automatic identification of a fish. The system may make an incorrect identification.
These Rules shall enter into effect on 10 August 2026.
